  OpenStreetMap is (or is almost) a free editable map of the whole world. It is still being written.

  OpenStreetMap allows you to view, edit and use geographical data in a collaborative way from anywhere on Earth.

Currently OSM is starting to adopt standards on every level to become an interoperable part of world wide Spatial Data Infrastructures. The OSM SDI will then provide Free Spatial Data using Free Software with full Interoperability. This common purpose is shared with the Mapbender Portal which additionally extends the purely spatial component with Wiki-based content as desctribed in the Wikimaps architecture.
