There are many ways to create screencasts and probably many better than this one. So if you have better solution, please feel free to add it here.
How to Create a Screencast
The easiest solution for us was to do this in five step:
- Create a script.
- Read the script out recording it as an audio file.
- Play back the audio file and at the same time record the video.
- Edit video as needed.
- Merge video and audio.
Software
We use the minimal required to get this done:
- gnome-sound-recorder (default with Ubuntu Gnome)
- recordMyDesktop (via Ubuntu repo, first is the software, second is the user interface)
sudo apt-get install recordmydesktop sudo apt-get install gtk-recordmydesktop
- oggvideotools (on Ubuntu 10+)
sudo apt-get install oggvideotools
